Amaara: Speeding up clinical process by 36% through a multi-module hospital platform
Quick Links
Idea
Providing a modular hospital system combining Electronic Health Records with a Clinic Management platform to modernize operations.
Context
Amaara is a health information system that enables healthcare providers to digitize workflows and improve clinical operations efficiently. Many hospitals in India still rely on manual records, which slows care and often results in lost documents.
As a Lead UX Designer, I designed EHR for hemodialysis, Inventory and Clinical Management for roles like admin, doctor, nurse, receptionist, and lab technician.

Why are hospital processes slow?
Paper-based health record systems remain common in Indian hospitals. Patient details are written down at reception, updated by doctors, and passed back to patients. This manual workflow slows operations and increases the risk of lost or misplaced patient documents.
We had 2 main goals
How might we digitize health records to maintain data?
How might we streamline internal hospital operations to improve efficiency?
An interesting challenge
Limited Digital Literacy
Many doctors and staff had minimal exposure to digital systems. If the system wasn’t simple, the staff would revert back to paper.
Solution
I designed a system with relevant illustrations, and microcopy that are medically accurate and easy to understand. By keeping the UI clear and the language straightforward, hospitals were able to adopt it quickly, and it attracted new clients.
I collaborated with my Manager/co-founder to understand the requirements, who gathered insights from doctors, nurses, and hospital staff.
Based on these requirements, I translated these requirements into detailed user flows. Below are some examples.

From flows to designs
Once the core user flows were mapped, I translated them into interfaces.

Since I didn’t have access to direct usage analytics, I measured impact through:

"As the CEO of Amaara, I have had the pleasure of supervising Shreya. At Amaara, our scope is broad and requires designing interfaces for a wide user group. This requires a high rate of design output and iteration. Shreya has assumed considerable responsibility, being the Lead Designer. She is passionate and motivated. Her designs are highly functional and have a pleasant aesthetic. She works hard and has maintained cordial relations with the team as well as external partners."
Reflection
1
Designing for healthcare showed me the importance of trust, clarity and usability, since every interaction has an impact on patient outcomes.
2
Holding this role also gave me perspective on how to work within complex systems, align with leadership direction, and deliver consistently at scale. It reinforced the value of listening to context and designing with empathy for diverse users.
